Atrial fibrillation and oxidative stress

Atrial fibrillation is connected to oxidative stress. Systematic oxidative defenses are triggered by reactive oxidant species in gastrointestinal tracts. See this post.


Treatment of atrial fibrillation calls for elimination of dietary antioxidants. Dietary antioxidants neutralize reactive oxygen species in gastrointestinal tracts undermining systematic oxidant defenses.


Among other organs vagus nerves connect gastrointestinal tracts and hearts. See this diagram. 

More than around RDA dosages of vitamin C and vitamin E which are antioxidant vitamins have to be avoided. Supplementation with selenium and/or n-acetyl-l-cysteine which are antioxidants should also be avoided. Where there is atrial fibrillation a no recipes ketogenic diet which eliminates dietary antioxidants could be followed. See this post.


Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker used to treat atrial fibrillation, In treatment of atrial fibrillation avoidance of more than around RDA amounts of vitamin C and vitamin E and avoidance of supplementation with selenium and n-acetyl-l-cysteine and a no recipes ketogenic diet is complimentary to taking diltiazem.
