Why protein supplements should not ever be taken

Updated: Mar 21

Alanine--glyoxylate aminotransferase (AGT) has as substrates L-alanine, glyoxylate,  pyruvate and glycine.  Alanine transaminase (ALT) has as substrates L-alanine,  2-oxoglutarate, pyruvate and  L-glutamate. AGT and ALT are acutely sensitive to substrates where activities of AGT and ALT are very finely balanced.

Protein supplements by supplying L-alanine, glutamate and glutamine upset balances of AGT and ALT. Protein supplements are very hard on muscles. 2-oxoglutarate synthesis can also be upset by protein supplements which dysregulates lots of enzymes that have 2-oxoglutarate as a cofactor.

L-alanine is about the worst supplement ever and pyruvate is only an iota better. A scoop of whey protein isolate has around 1300 milligrams of L-alanine and around 4800 milligrams of glutamic acid which is very readily and quickly absorbed. Whey protein supplements particularly whey protein isolate supplements upset balances of AGT and ALT where results are disastrous.

Protein supplements  should not ever be supplemented. L-glutamine is converted by glutaminase 2 to L-glutamate in gastrointestinal tracts and livers. L-glutamine  should not ever be supplemented.

Where increased protein is desired foods that are complete protein could be eaten. Complete protein are foods that contain all required essential amino acids.

Beef is an example of a complete protein. Not all foods that are complete protein are appropriately eaten.  For example soy is a complete protein that should not be eaten.

Everyone who takes protein supplements feels a bit mentally dizzy immediately subsequent to taking protein supplements. Individuals are bedazzled by bits and pieces of scientific research that supplement corporations run with to produce almost endless varieties of protein supplements.
