A very large factor in mental illnesses is dietary antioxidants. Due to intakes of dietary antioxidants by individuals which can increase over time as a strong rule of thumb individuals with mental illness are going to fit into various diagnostic categories. Psychiatric research which almost completely focuses on discrete diagnostic categories is basically useless.
Psychotherapy based on discrete diagnostic categories would be of less than zip assistances. Such psychotherapy would mislead individuals in regards to who such individuals are.
