Drinks other than water are avoided not only due to such drinks being antioxidant laden but also due to such drinks being acidic

Spring water has a pH of 7.4 while other drinks most frequently have pHs below 4 where 39% of drinks have pHs below 3. Acidic drinks react with bicarbonate dysregulating bicarbonate levels in gastrointestinal tracts.


Carbamoyl phosphate synthetase I require bicarbonate. Carbamoyl phosphate synthetase 2 also requires bicarbonate


Acidic drinks can dysregulate carbamoyl phosphate synthase I resulting in decreases in synthesis of nitric oxide. See this post.


Acidic drinks can also dysregulate carbamoyl phosphate synthase II resulting in decreases in synthesis of orotate resulting in decreases in synthesis of RNA and DNA and decreases in levels of thousands of proteins where protein levels do not reset where acidic drinks are stopped unless various supplements are taken.
